Hola All! This probably has to be the hottest summer on record! Today, here in Greensboro, it’s 98 degrees, and the feels like temperature is 110. It saddens me that Lil Bit hasn’t really had a chance to get out on her trampoline or in her wade pool. We haven’t even been able to get the park to ride the bike, skates, or even play in the watering hole at LeBauer Park. This is just too hot! To make matters worse, both Lil Bit and I fall under the risk category. Lil Bit has asthma, I have heart disease and diabetes. Drats!
What are two girls to do when we can’t get outside? We stay in and make snow cones. We took Olaf the Shaved Ice Maker down from the shelf and made snow cones. I have to tell you, they were delicious.
We’re revving up for a busy week. This is last week of Lil Bit’s summer camp and the beginning of her soccer camp. On top of that, Glamma has client projects and other business projects that need attention.
Lil Bit and I would like to know what you do on a hot day. Please place your comments in the comment box below.
Glamma and Lil Bit are now on Snapchat. We don’t currently have any snaps up, but they are coming soon. Follow us on Snapchat at glammandlilbit.
We don’t have anything else planned for the rest of the day. We want to relax and refresh for our busy week. Look for our new videos on our YouTube Channel. Currently we have 22 subscribers to Glamma and Lil Bit. We’re trying to reach our first milestone of 50. So, if you wouldn’t mind, we’d love it if you’d subscribe, thumbs up our videos and tell all your friends, and your friend’s children to do the same. Thank you in advance.
Hello Bit Squad! I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July holiday. Lil Bit, Papa and I are fresh back from vacation. We went on a cruise to the Bahamas and dillie-dallied around Charleston, South Carolina.
I’m not sure how many of you have been on a cruise, but it is an experience. As we reflect on our vacation, the cruise and the Bahamas Papa and I feel like this is something we can check off our bucket list and could care less if we did it again. Lil Bit on the other hand had a blast. It was also her first cruise. She loved being on the ship and visiting a new and exciting place. If you ask her the favorite part of her vacation, she’ll tell you it was spending time at the water park on the boat.
If you’ve never been on a cruise, I strongly suggest doing it at least once and decide if it’s something you’d want to do again. We probably won’t, but never say never. Soon, look for videos on Glamma’s YouTube channel, Live, Laugh, Love with Yolanda. We will be doing a few videos on our experience, what to do and not to do, what to bring and not to bring, and other cruise tips for the first timer. I was amazed when talking with others as they shared their past cruise experiences. One woman told us she had been on 70 cruises! I guess she can make that 72, because when we got off the boat, she did not. She was doing back to back cruises. I don’t see how she does it, but she says she loves it, and I realize that it’s not for everyone. Either you love it or you don’t. But you’ve got to try it at least one time.
Below, I’ve posted a few pictures (*wink* at a few) detailing what a blast we had. We took video footage, but not as much as we would have liked. You know, it’s hard to try to have a great time and still remember that you are a vlogger and that you need to be recording. None the less, the video will be up in a few days, but we hope you enjoy the photos.
Today was Lil Bit’s first day back to swim practice. We took a hiatus in January so that she could enjoy other events and so that Glamma could take a break. But now she’s back and she made Papa and I very proud when she dunked her head in the water.
She has one of the instructors she had last year, so she was very familiar and comfortable this time around. She still has a little fear, but I can see the improvement and I’m so proud of her.
Since Lil Bit has come to live with Papa and I, Sundays have become traditionally, Pancake Day. Every Sunday, or at least most Sundays, Glamma will slave over the stove making pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sometimes shrimp and grits for the family. Sometimes, she will pitch in to help, others, she will run in and out of the kitchen, sneaking pieces of bacon. And when she’s not stealing bacon, she’s asking, “When is breakfast going to be ready?”
I enjoy it and she does too. Besides, it’s another meal that gives us the chance to sit down as a family and discuss what’s going on in the world and each of our lives. Sometimes, we’ll listen to online church while we’re eating.
Today was Award’s Day at school. Lil Bit didn’t get as many awards as she is used to, but she still cleaned house. She is very competitive, and it showed.
The awards she received this time around were, Certificate of Service (for being the Box Tops Queen), Certificate of Citizenship, Certificate of Perfect Attendance, and a Reading Certificate, because she loves to read.
It’s funny. At night, when she’s supposed to be sleep, I’ll either peek in on her baby cam, or tip-toe in her room to find her under the covers reading a book. I am ecstatic that she loves to read. Don’t forget to check out her reading list on the Reading List tab.
Lil Bit has been participating in after-school Kid’s Poetry Football at her school. Today, they held their annual event. I was skeptical at first, but was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed myself. The program was founded by Clement Mallory. It’s basketball with a play on words and poetry.
The events of the day included basketball, of course, word rhyming, word creation, fitness, collage creation and face painting. The adults got involved too. However, glamma was dressed too cute, and besides, I was the photographer, so I got a pass. Papa, on the other hand, was not so lucky. He participated like a trooper, but soon remembered that he’s nearly 55.
If you are in the area, and your child likes sports, I really recommend this program. The program has sponsored events throughout the year and even has a back-to-school drive for the kiddos.
If you’re interested in an event or donating to this great program, you can email Mr. Mallory by clicking on the link below. Also find the video.
