Summer’s nearly over and we’ve managed to do mostly everything on our summer bucket list, with the exception of going to the beach. It’s something we do every year and it feels kind of odd that we have not been to the Carolina Coast so far this season. I know, we went on a cruise and visited the beautiful beaches of the Bahamas, but it’s still not the same. Not to fret, even though school starts in a week, we still may make it to the water. We have a three day holiday in September so we’ll see.
On our Summer 2017 Bucket List was horseback riding and that was something that we completed today. For the first time in both our lives, Lil Bit and I rode a horse. Papa came along but did not ride due to a shoulder injury. I’d be lying if I said I was not scared for both me and Lil Bit. For me because I have severe arthritis and fibromyalgia. I was afraid of falling and breaking something or even getting trampled by this big animal that I was mounted on top of. For Lil Bit because she’s such a small thing and I didn’t want her to fall or be fearful. However, if you know anything about Lil Bit, she is fearless. After working out a few kinks, she was riding the horse like she had been riding it for years. She even tried to make the horse go faster than she was supposed to because, afterall, a little trotting was not exciting enough for her.
After a twenty minute ride through the Tanglewood Stables, we had learned a few basic maneauvers, and our experience was over. I know why Cowboys are bowlegged and still don’t understand how they did all that riding, galloping, etc., because even after soaking in Epson salt, I was sore for a couple of days.
Lil Bit liked it so much that she wants to take riding lessons. We’ll see, Lil Bit, we’ll see!
